When I open an e-mail, the contents of the e-mail and the address information overlap--making it next to impossible to read my e-mails.
We are hearing reports such as yours from people who are using Vista and/or Internet Explorer (IE) 8 to access toroMail. Here are two suggestions that don’t involve going back to IE 7 or a different operating system. One is to use the Mozilla Firefox browser instead of IE. It’s a free download from www.mozilla.com, and it works very well for toroMail. The other option is to use a much more forgiving version of the e-mail software. It’s called the “Standard Edition” (as opposed to the normal “Corporate Edition”), and you can find it at http://mirapoint.csudh.edu/wm. It’s just a different user interface. You’ll be looking at your usual inbox.
I can log into toroMail and read my mail, but I can't send, forward, or reply to mail. What's up?
You may be experiencing problems with popup blockers. When you compose or reply to mail successfully, a new [popup] window comes forward. You may be able to overcome the popup problem these ways:
- Depress the Control (Ctrl) key while clicking the New button,
, or the Reply or Forward buttons,
.
- If you have installed the Yahoo! toolbar or the Google toolbar, ensure that popups are enabled in them. By default, they are disabled.
- Check the popup blocker settings in your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer) and change them to medium. E.g., in Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options... > Privacy > Pop-up Blocker settings.
- In that same window add the toroMail address, http://toromail.csudh.edu, to the list of allowed sites.
- Change browser security settings to medium (in IE, Tools > Internet Options... > Security).
- Add the toroMail site (http://toromail.csudh.edu) to the list of trusted sites (Tools > Internet Options... > Security > Trusted Sites).
- Turn off Norton Internet Security.
I can log into toroMail and I can see the menu bar at the top, and that is all--no list of folders, no inbox. What's up?
This symptom indicates that the subject line of one of the messages in your inbox has an illegal, probably invisible, character in it. You will probably be able to see the contents of your inbox using Mirapoint Standard Edition rather than Mirapoint Corporate Edition to access your mail. Corporate and Standard Editions both access the same mailbox. Navigate to http://mirapoint.csudh.edu/wm to access the Standard Edition. There's no problem with continuing to use Standard Edition to access your mail, but you want to may check back with Corporate Edition from time to time to take advantage of its richer features.
toroMail says I'm over my 50 Mg limit, but I deleted lots of messages to make space. What's up?
Don't forget to empty the trash when you're over your storage limit. Otherwise, all those deleted messages are still in your mailbox. You'll find the Empty Trash option on the Delete drop-down menu:

Alternately, POP your toroMail to a different account.
